About GreaterGood

Providing easy online ways to help people, animals, and the planet

GreaterGood began in 1999 to provide support for worthy causes through easy, online actions. Since its launch, GreaterGood has contributed more than $60 million to charities around the world.

Each of our cause-related websites partners with nonprofits to provide support through many different easy actions, including a free, fast 'click', shopping, and through the Gifts That Give Moreā„¢ online donation program.

Currently, all donations generated by GreaterGood activities are distributed by GreaterGood.org, a 501c3 nonprofit. Each year, GreaterGood.org grants go to more than 130 charities working in the United States and worldwide. Recent grants include, but are not limited to: providing meals for the hungry and supporting sustainable practices to end poverty; providing micronutrients and oral rehydration formula to bring ailing infants and children back to health; supporting breast cancer research and programs helping women receive free mammograms; rescuing and caring for abandoned pets or endangered animals until a permanent home can be found; helping families cope with autism; feeding homeless veterans and assisting them in finding housing and jobs; funding leading-edge diabetes research; encouraging reading and literacy through providing books, scholarships, and other educational services; and preserving rainforests and other wildlife habitat.

More About GreaterGood

Long-time activists Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg met at the University of Michigan while working on the Michigan Bottle Bill ballot campaign in 1976. As enthusiastic supporters of GreaterGood's first website, The Hunger Site, they realized the power of providing busy Internet users with fast, free, easy ways to make a difference. GreaterGood supports multiple causes through numerous "Click To Give" websites and other internet retail ventures.

Tim Kunin travels extensively throughout the year to visit GreaterGood's charity partners and to make more fair-trade products available through GreaterGood's stores. He is convinced that providing a market for products made by rural women artisans is the best method of reducing inter-generational poverty. Travels have taken Tim to Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Sweden, England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, South Africa, Israel, India, and Afghanistan, among others. Tim has purchased unique products in each of these countries, which can in turn be purchased from the web stores here.

Greg Hesterberg was chairman of two statewide consumer and environmental organizations (MaryPIRG and PIRGIM) while in college. After 20 years running a successful publishing firm, Greg delights in finding innovative ways to make the world a better place and currently serves on the board of the Petfinder Foundation.
