In July 2012, Prosthetics Outreach Foundation and the American Foot and Ankle Society will send a group of volunteer orthopedic surgeons to Vietnam. The group will perform corrective surgeries alongside Vietnamese surgeons and provide hands-on instruction.
Later, in August, Dr. Robert Veith, POF Medical Director, will travel with another group of volunteer medical professionals to Vietnam's northwest mountain regions.
POF Program Officer Jessica Dyer is working there on a nationwide clubfoot training and community sensitization workshop to take place in September with training partner Ponseti International Association.
Dyer will also work with program implementation partners to strengthen their community outreach strategies in order to increase referrals to clinics of children born with clubfoot.
GreaterGood.org supports POF's efforts to restore mobility and independence to amputees and children with clubfoot through the Gifts That Give More [tm] program at The Child Health Site and other GreaterGood Network websites.
